So as I hoped, Tim Lincecum won the cy young award for the second consecutive year. How bout that. I’m pretty sure those cardinals fans are pretty upset. They had two pitchers along with Lincecum, in for the cy young. But once again, Timmy got it.
He’s had an amazing career so far. He’s only been playing two years, and he’s braught in a couple cy young awards. Not only that, but he recorded more than 250 strikeouts in both years. That’s really something.
I was worried about him during the middle of the season though. Him with his back pain, I was worried he would be out for the season, and not be able to compete for the cy young again. But he did! I was freakin happy when I heard the news!
Anyway, baseball 2010. This is going to be a good year. I can feel it. There have been many surprising signs with different teams. For example, we got Curtis Granderson who signed with the yanks, Aubrey Huff, and Mark Derosa who signed with the giants, Jason Bay with the mets, Cliff Lee with the mariners, and just recently, Johnny Damon signed with the tigers.
Many great, and surprising signs, but that will just make this year, a great year for baseball. Every year is a great year of baseball, now that I think about it.
Now I wanna talk about the NL west for a sec. There are three teams that have the potential to make the playoffs this year. The rockies, are always surprising us. It’s always late in the season too! I think that they are gonna have a solid year. On the mound they have Jeff Francis, and Ubaldo Jimenez. Both very young, and talented pitchers.
The second is the dodgers. The past couple of years, they have made it to the playoffs. They just need to work with the pitching staff, and they will be a great team. Their hitting isn’t the best you’ll find, but it’s still pretty decent. They have Manny who stays out in left, Casey Blake at third, Russel Martin behind the plate, and Furcal at short. Now if the dodgers were smart, they would trade Manny to a team in the american league. Manny shouldn’t be out on the field. He needs to be in the american league as a DH. I have a feeling that this year, Manny will get an injury, that will prevent him to play for a steady ammount of time. I don’t know if any of you guys notice, but I’m a giants fan, and now I have to go boil my tongue for speaking highly of the dodgers. bleh.
Now the team that really leaps out at me, is the Giants. Now I’m not just saying that cause they are my team, but I’m saying it cause they have made such magnificent progress. Last year they were just a few games back in the wild card, of playing in the playoffs. I was stoked! But then they blew it. They were great, but their offense wasn’t doing their job. Now that we are in spring training, we have seen such progress with the team. And they have done a great job with signings this past off season. They signed the power hitting 1st baseman, Aubrey Huff, and the flexible postistion player, Mark Derosa.
With these two additions to the club, the giants will make a big difference. They got a great infield, and a decent outfield. We got Bengie behind the plate, Huff at first, Freddy Sanchez at second, Edgar Renteria possibly sticking around to play at short, (and if not, they have Uribe) Panda at third, Derosa in left, Rowand in center, and Schierholtz in right. And their pitching staff is still incredible. They have the cy young man, Tim Lincecum. Then Matt Cain, and Jonathan Sanchez.
Now my personal oppinion, is to get Brian Wilson out of there. He has not been doing his job. He blew too many games in 09. They had to call on Romo sometimes just cause Wilson couldn’t get the job done! He blew many games. If he didn’t, the giants might have made a playoff appearance.
